Coming to Marathon is like stepping into the glossy pages of a travel magazine. Boating, deep sea and flats fishing, paddle boarding, and jet-ski tours are just some of the things to do here.

You’ll also find a number of breathtaking natural attractions. Crane Point, the best-kept secret of the Lower Keys, is a 63-acre site filled with nature trails, tropical trees, native flowers, and educational displays.

The site is home to the Marathon Wild Bird Center, where injured birds like pelicans and egrets are nursed back to health before being reintroduced to the wild.

Another turtle nesting beach, Coco Plum Beach, has white sand and is less crowded. The shallow waters make it an excellent spot for windsurfing.

Marathon has a sufficient number of shops for your basic necessities, as well as an excellent selection of restaurants that offer waterfront dining.

  • Marathon’s Tropical Island Outlet sells swimwear, graphic T-shirts, etched glassware, and ornaments.
  • Conch fritters, sesame seared tuna, and coconut fried shrimp are just some of the dishes on offer at Lazy Days South.
  • Come to Sunset Grille & Raw Bar for the most extensive sushi menu in all of the Lower Keys. Grab some drinks at the bar and enjoy views of the sunset.
  • Island Fish Co. &Tiki Bar boasts a beach bar, marina, and heliport for high rollers. Sip a key lime colada or rum punch, or feast on grilled lobster and Caribbean barbecue.
